Beach Update Sept. 2, 2010Great news today from NOAA:NOAA today reopened to commercial and recreational fishing 5,130 square miles of Gulf waters stretching from the far eastern coast of Louisiana, through Mississippi, Alabama, and the western Florida panhandle. Beach Update Aug. 27, 2010We have had a beautiful week on the Alabama Gulf Coast. A front moved through the area bringing lower humidity and pleasant beach conditions. Beach Update Aug. 20, 2010It is been another beautiful day on the Alabama Gulf Coast.Our beaches are still seeing a little sporadic oil impact, but the beach cleaning machines and work crews are out every night working to keep our sand white. Beach Update Aug. 17, 2010Alabama's coastal waters are open for fishing again! Alabama Marine Resources made the announcement Sunday. You can now keep and eat what you catch up to three miles off shore.Scattered showers in the area have kept the temperatures at a comfortable level. Beach Update Aug. 4, 2010BP says the "static kill" worked! In the Gulf, workers stopped pumping mud in after about 8 hours of their "static kill" procedure and were monitoring the well to ensure it remained stable, BP said.This is wonderful news for all of us on the beautiful Alabama Gulf Coast and all of our treasured friends and guests that have been watching this event for the last 107 days. Beach Update Aug. 2, 2010The gulf water is clear and calm today on the beautiful Alabama Gulf Coast. The weather forecast is clear and hot with a slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms. It is great beach weather.The water is open for swimming in Orange Beach and Gulf Shores. This morning's flyover reported clear water in Orange Beach and Gulf Shores in the back bays and gulf. Beach Update July 30, 2010Great news today! The Alabama Department of Health has lifted the swim advisory for coastal Alabama. However, the department warns that there may still be sporadic oil on or near the beaches and discourages individuals from entering waters if there is visible oil present.The Gulf of Mexico is a beautiful blue and calm this morning with very little wave action. Oil Spill and Beach Update July 28, 2010We received great news today. Orange Beach is changing their flags from double red to single red. This means High Hazard and to exercise extreme caution.Please remember, regardless of the color flag being flown, the Alabama Department of Public Health has issued a swimming advisory in gulf waters off Gulf Shores, Orange Beach and Fort Morgan, and in bay waters immediately adjacent to Fort Morgan, in Bayou St. |
